Pro Tennis is coming to Rochester Again

The USTA has announced that The Tennis Club of Rochester was chosen to repeat as host of a USTA Men's $10,000 Clay Court Futures Tournament.  The 2010 summer event will take place June 26th to July 4th.  The tournament, a USTA Pro Circuit event, is the largest tennis event in Western New York and attracts players from all over the world.

The field for the Linda Bogdan Memorial Futures Tournament Main Draw, June 29th to July 4th, will feature 32 singles players and 16 doubles teams.  Players ranked as high as No. 300 in the world typically compete in Future level events.  The qualifying tournament, June 26th to 28th, will determine the final eight singles players in the field.

We are excited to feature one of our own local players in the tournament field. Marcus Fugate from Fairport NY is a former number one US ranked junior that trained locally at TCR under Head Pro Billy Nealon, himself a former number one US ranked junior.  Marcus is currently traveling playing futures tournaments.

Last summer's tournament was a rousing success. The Buffalo Bills our Title Sponsor partnered with The Tennis Club of Rochester to bring professional tennis back to Rochester.  Other presenting sponsors for this year are PHS Dental Implant Surgical Center and University of Rochester Medical Center.

The event will also feature a wild card tournament at TCR June 21st to 24th. The Wild Card tournament will award the singles champion with a spot in the Futures main draw and the singles finalist will be awarded a spot in the qualifying event.  The wild card tournament is open to any man 14 years of age and older.

What is the USTA Pro Circuit?

With 94 tournaments throughout the country and prize money ranging from $10,000 to $100,000, the USTA Pro Circuit is the pathway to the US Open and tour-level competition for aspiring tennis players and a frequent battleground for established professionals.

Last year, more than 1,000 men and women from 74 countries competed on the USTA Pro Circuit for approximately $3.2 million in prize money and valuable ATP and WTA Tour ranking points.

Maria Sharapova, Andy Roddick, James Blake, Justine Henin, Nicole Vaidisova, Andrew Murray and David Nalbandian are among today's top stars that began their careers on the USTA Pro Circuit.

The USTA Pro Circuit is world-class tennis administered on the local level and played on local tennis courts as part of the fabric of communities nationwide - an opportunity for current and new fans to experience the excitement and intensity of the professional game in their neighborhood.  For more information, please visit procircuit.usta.com.

House a Player

The Rochester Futures provides private housing accomodations as a courtesy to the main draw players for the course of the tournament.

Our housing hosts are local families who support the tournament and enjoy their player guest, often inviting them back the next year.

Over the years, wonderful relationships have developed between hosts and players at these tournaments. We ask that our host families provide breakfast each morning and transportation when possible. Host families will receive week passes to the tournament and an invite to the player cocktail reception party Monday June 29th.

To find out more information about housing a player contact Stephanie Sauer at stephaniesauer@ymail.com.

Be a Sponsor
The Futures Tournament will be a great way to increase your exposure to the tennis community and your fellow TCR members. Tennis players in general and TCR members in particular are a valuable target demographic for your business to market to.

Our packages start at $500 and go up from there.  In return for your sponsorship fee you and your company will be offered opportunities for signage, tickets to the matches and special events, a link to the website, inclusion in the tournament program and various tournament materials.  We can develop a program to meet your needs. Contact Steve Pike at 248-8980 x 12 or email steve@tennisclubofrochester.com.
